A Study On Prefixes In Amanuban Dialect Of Uab Meto In South Central Timor Regency
XMLThis thesis is about prefixes in Amanuban Dialect of Uab Meto in South Central Timor Regency. This study aims to: (1) to find out prefixes in Amanuban dialect of Uab Meto language in South Central Timor Regency, (2) to identify the types of prefixes in Amanuban dialect of Uab Meto language in South Central Timor Regency, (3) to describe the function of prefixes in Amanuban dialect of Uab Meto language in South Central Timor Regency. The method used was descriptive qualitative method. The research was conducted in Mauleum village, East Amanuban distict, South Central Timor Regency. The data resource for this study was three informants who live in Mauleum village. Techniques of the collection were observation, elicitation, recording, and noted taking. The data were analyzed by using transcribing, identifying, and describing techniques. The result shows that: (1) There are some prefixes found in Amanuban dialect of Uab Meto in South Central Timor Regency, such as a-, ma-, aka-, ha-, u-, mu-, na-, mi-, ta. (2) Those prefixes are also classified into two types. They are derivational morpheme and inflectional morpheme. Prefixes attached to derivational morphemes. Example: (a) Prefix a- can be attached to verb. Example: ‘bisot’ (hit), ‘hanat’ (cook), ‘kenat’ (shoot), ‘kaet’(cry). It is also attached to adjective. Example: ‘moko’ (proud), ‘maet’ (shy), ‘toas’ (angry), ‘pehet’ (lazy). (b) Prefixes attached to verb.nExample: ‘toes’ (quarrel), ‘ken’ (War), ‘tufus’ (fight), ‘topus’ (hand shake), ‘talus’ (connect). It is attached attached to noun. Example: ‘noso’ (clohing), ‘ume’ (home), ‘taka’ (sign), ‘ena’ (mother), ‘ama’ (father). It is also attached to verb. Example: ‘nek’ (kiss), ‘lomi’ (love), ‘iti’ (pinch), ‘kiso’ (see), ‘tuf’ (hit). (c) There are prefixes attached to verb, prefix aka-; ‘lili’ (disturb), ‘tau’ (scare). (d) Prefix attached to adjective, prefix ha-; ‘putu’ (warm), ‘nule’ (soft), ‘lin’ (comfort). While prefixes that are attached to inflectional morphemes . Example: (a) Prefix u- attached to first singular‘s verb. Example: au ‘uah’ (I eat). (b) Prefix mu- attached to second singular’s verb. Example: ‘ho muah’ (you eat). (c) Prefix na- attached to third singular’s verb. Example: ‘in nah’ (he/she/it eats). (d) Prefix mi- attached to second plural’s verb. Example: ‘hai miah’ (we eat). (e) Prefix ta- attached to first plural’s verb. Example: ‘hit tah’ (we eat). (3)The functions of those prefixes are: (a) Prefix a- is used to change verb to noun. (b) Prefix a- is used to change adjective to noun. (c) Prefix ma- is used to change verb to noun. (d) Prefix ma- is used to change noun to possessive pronoun. (e) Prefix ma- is used to change verb into adjective (each other). (f) Prefix aka- is used to change verb into adjective (each other). (g) Prefix ha- is used to change adjective to verb.
