An Analysis Of Teacher - Students Interaction In The English Classroom Of Second Year Students Of SMA Negeri 9 Kota Kupang In The School Year 2023/2024

The writer was interested in researching the analysis of teacher-student interaction in the English classroom. The writer analyzed the types of interaction used by the teacher and students in the english classroom. The purpose of this research is to know the kinds of teacher talk that the teacher uses in classroom interaction and the kinds of student talk that the students use in classroom interaction. The subject of this research were an English teacher and students of SMA Negeri 9 Kota Kupang. There were 79 students which were divided into two classrooms they were Class XI Bahasa and XI Mipa 3. The writer recorded for three times, Class XI Bahasa one time and two times for Class XI Mipa 3. The writer found that (1) there were only 9 categories that the teacher used in the classroom which were divided into 5 categories of indirect influence (dealing with feelings, praising or encourages, joking,using idea of students, asking questions) and 4 categories of direct influence (giving information,correcting without rejection, giving direction, critizing student’s response).(2) There were 5 categories that the students used in the classroom. They were student’s response specific, student’s response choral, student’s response open-ended or student initiated, silences and laughter.
