Forms And Meanings Of Paci In Traditional Dance Of Caci In East Manggarai Society
XMLThis study aims to identify forms of paci in traditional dance in East Manggarai society and to describe meanings of those forms in paci traditional dance in East Manggarai society. The research was conducted in Lembur village on June to July 2023. In conducted this research, the writer used descriptive qualitative method. The data resources of this research were four informants. The data were collected by using interview, audio recordingand take notes techniques. The data were analyzed by using transcribing, identifying, and describing techniques. The result shows that there are ten paci found in Caci traditional dance in East Manggarai regency. These forms of paci have meaning. For example: (a). Oee… kacang hijo, anak reba kipo. This paci means that this paci is to explain the identity of the dancer. It shows about the masculinity of the young man who comes from a village that called Kipo. Kacang hijo here is one of the palawija plants that always planted by the people of East Manggarai, especially in Kipo, Lembur village. Therefore, this paci wants to express that the young man wants to introduce the origin of his birth, which is from Kipo village. (b) Lampu gantong anak reba Aghos. This paci also has a meaning to introduce a tribe of the dancer. Conceptually, Lampu gantong is a phrase that means a lamp that is hanging. In this paci, it represents a young man who has a life that is hopeless or does not have a purpose and guideline in life (like a lamp that does not light up without electricity). For this reason, this paci represents that he is a handsome man from the Aghos tribe. (c) Bunga padi, mai rame caci. Padi unggul, mai rame lumpung. The meaning of this paci is that the dancer wants to invite people to come to enliven the caci dance performance (mai rame caci) while mai rame lumpung (performance arena) this sentence wants to invite people to enliven the performance arena held in an area that conducts caci. The dancer shows his feeling through paci that using Manggarai language, especially Mbaen languageas local language of Lembur village. It can be concluded that, paci is not only as an identity of the dancer, but also the entertainment of the audience during the performance and also being the bridge between two different cultures.
