The Use Of Word Search Puzzle Gametechnique To Improve Vocabulary Of Second Grade Students Of SMPN 11 Kupang In The Academic Year 2022/2023

This research is aimedto find out whether the use of word search puzzle game technique can improve the vocabulary of second grade students of SMPN 11 KUPANG in academic year 2022/2023. The method used wasexperimental method.This research was conducted in SMPN 11 Kupang in April to May 2023 particularly second grade students.The population of this research was 288 students of SMPN 11 Kupang. By using random sampling technique, the writer selected 16% of the population (288 x 16%) as the sample and there were 46 students as the sample. This sample was divided into two groups, such as experimental group consist of 23 students and control group consist of 23 students. The instrument used to collect data to measure the value of variables was a test that is multiple choice that consist of 40 items. In collecting the data, the researcher used pre test, treatment and post test as the data collection procedures then followed by analyzing the data by using t-test formula. The result shows that using word search puzzle game technique can improve vocabulary of second grade students of SMPN 11 Kupang in the academic year 2022/2023, because the result of the statistical calculation indicated that the value of t-test was 5,52 and the value of df (degree of freedom) 42 at the level of significance 5% was 2,2. It can be concluded that the t-test was higher than t-table where 5,52>2,2. Since t-test value is higher than the t-table value thus, the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. It means that the use of word search puzzle games can improve vocabulary of second grade students of SMPN 11 Kupang in the academic year 2022/2023.
