THE USE OF TASK-BASED LEARNING MODEL IN INCREASING SPEAKING ABILITY OF THE FIRST CLASS (A) STUDENTS OF SMK NEGERI 1 LARANTUKA IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2023/2024
XMLThis study aims to find out whether Task-based learning can increase speaking ability of the first class A students of SMK Negeri 1 Larantuka in academic year 2023/2024. This study used classroom action research as the research method. There were 34 students of the first class A of SMK Negeri 1 Larantuka in the academic year 2023/2024 as the subject of the research. The techniques that were used to collect data were test and interview. The tests were pre-test and post-test. Based on the tests that have been carried out, it showed that the use of Task-Based Learning method of students’ speaking ability in the first grade of SMK Negeri 1 Larantuka increased in pronunciation (3.52), grammar (3.55), vocabulary (3.47), fluency (3.5), comprehension (3.55). Moreover, the improvement of the students’ speaking ability can be seen from the results of pre-test scores and post-test scores. It was found that the mean score of pre-test was 50.47 and the mean score of post-test was 70.70. Because the mean score of post-test was higher than pre-test, it means that there was improvement in students’ speaking ability.
