AN ANALYSIS OF ENGLISH CLASSROOM CONVERSATIONS BETWEEN A TEACHER AND HIS FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS OF SMA KRISTEN 1 SOE IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2023/2024

This thesis is entitled “An Analysis of English Classroom Conversations Between A Teacher And His First-Year Students Of SMA Kristen 1 Soe in Academic year 20232024”. The problems of the study are: what questions does a teacher ask in having a conversation with his students in his classroom and how do the students answer the questions. The aims of the research are to identify questions is teacher asks to his students and to know how the students answer the questions. This research is descriptive qualitative. In doing this research, the writer took a teacher and the first-year students of SMA Kristen 1 Soe as his research subject. The data of this research collected by observation and interviews were analyzed descriptively. It was found that the teacher asked yes-no question, wh questions to his students and the students answered the questions using long and short answers, come could be answered correctly and some incorrecly.
