ABSTRACT
The Effectiveness of Teaching Vocabulary by Using Audio-Visual as Media Toward
Vocabulary Mastery of the Students of Vocational High School

This research is aimed to find out the effectiveness of teaching vocabulary by
using audio-visual media toward vocabulary mastery of vocational high school
students. The kind of research used in this study is a library research. The data were
taken from some previous studies which related to the teaching of vocabulary by using
audio-visual media. To analyze the data, researcher identified and analyzed the data
based on the teaching of vocabulary and the use of audio-visual media. Researcher
should taking notes and combining theories and all findings, present new findings by
collaborating the data from the previous researchers. Finally, researcher found out that
the teaching of english vocabulary in vocational high school was effective because the
results from previous studies shows significant results of the implementation of teaching
strategies used by teachers in teaching English vocabulary; and there are differences in
the improvement of vocabulary learning outcomes between students who use audiovisual media and students who do not use audio-visual media in their learning.
Vocabulary learning outcomes of students who used audio-visual media was better than
students who did not use audio-visual media in English lessons in vocational high
school.
