THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING STUDENTCENTERED APPROACH IN TEACHING WRITING TO THE EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMPN 3 TAKARI IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2023/2024

This thesis is entitled: “The Effectiveness of Using Student Centered Approach In Teaching Writing To The Eighth Grade Student Of SMP N 3 Takari In Academic Year 2023/2024”. The problem of this thesis is; is it effective to use student centered approach in teaching writing to the eighth student of SMP N 3 Takari in academic year 2023/2024 ? It aims to know whether it is effective to use student-centered approach in teaching writing to the eighth grade student of SMP N 3 Takari in the academic year 2023/2024. The method used was the experimental method. There were two different groups of student, one groups was labeled as the experimental group consist 21 student, and another one was determined as the control group consist 21 student. The research was conducted in SMP N 3 Takari. The population was eighth grade students of SMP N 3 Takari in the academic year 2023/2024. There were 168 students of SMP N 3 Takari as the population, and the sample was 42 students or 25% of 168 students as the population. The instrument used was a test. It was multiple-choice test that consists 40 items. The data were analyzed by computing the significance of the treatment of scores, and by accounting the significance of the treatment by using writing test, counting the mean of scores between the control group and experimental group during the pre test and post test were compared each other test to determine the different by using the T-test formula. The result shows that writing test of the eighth grade students of SMP N 3 Takari, because based on the score of t-ration obtained was 3 and the degree of freedom was 42 and it was higher that 2.02 of the t-table at the 5% level or P > 0.05 (5%) of significance, this means that null hypothesis (H0) is rejected, and alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted. It means that student centered approach is effective in teaching writing to eighth grade students in SMP N 3 Takari in academic year 2023/2024.
