THE FORMS AND MEANINGS OF LOKA PO’O TRADITION AS LOCAL WISDOM OF KORO BHERA VILLAGE PEOPLE IN FLORES, EAST NUSA TENGGARA
XMLThe Loka Po’o tradition is a ritual is held from generation to generation for asking or imploring the blessing from the ruler of heaven and earth through the ancestors for fertile land and abundant harvests, keeping away from all pests and diseases that can inhibit plants so that they get abundant harvests. This study aims to provide an overview of the various meanings of traditional speech in the Loka Po’o ritual in Koro Bhera village, Mego district, Sikka Regency. One of the Loka Po’o ritual tradition is in agricultural sector. The problems of in this study is (1) What is social meanings of the Loka Po’o tradition? And (2) What is religious meanings of the Loka Po’o tradition? The aim of this paper is to discover and describe the meanings of Loka Po’o tradition. The method used in this research is the direct interview method with the Mosalaki, in that the researcher listens to traditional speech from traditional elders during the interview. The method used by the writer in this research was descriptive qualitative method. The techniques used in this research were note-taking, recording and interview techniques. The data that had been collected were then processed and analyzed on the social and religious meanings of the Loka Po’o tradition. The theory used as the base in this research was Cultural Linguistics theory. The result of the study shows that the monologist forms consisting of (1) adverb forms, (2) noun forms, (3) verb forms, (4) adjectives forms, and (5) repeated word forms. The meaning includes (1) social meanings of Loka Po’o tradition, and (2) religious meanings of Loka Po’o tradition.
