USING TOTAL PHYSICAL RESPONSE METHOD TO IMPROVE VOCABULARY MASTERY OF CLASS B STUDENTS OF GRADE 7 OF SMPN 11 KUPANG
XMLThe aims of this research were to prove the action hypothesis and to find out how the total physical response method can improve vocabulary mastery of class B students of grade seven of SMPN 11 Kupang. Students of class seven B were tested to see how the TPR method improved their vocabulary mastery. Pre-test and posttest were the instruments used in collecting the data. The data were analyzed by calculating the proportion of observation data and student learning outcomes to evaluate learning implementation and student completion in the learning process. Data analysis was carried out by calculating the percentage of the item ofobservation and student learning outcomes to determine the implementation of learning and student completeness in the learning process. Based on the recapitulation of the implementation of learning from the observations of students
and researchers at the first and second meetings. The results of this study show that students did well to reach 100% (more than 75%), indicating that learning using the TPR method was done properly and effectively. Meanwhile, based on the posttest findings, 29 students achieved the minimal completeness requirements, bringing the learning completion rate to, 93.54%. This method worked through gesturing, demonstrating, translating, having group discussion, and memorizing. This indicates that the method of TPR was effective.
