This thesis is entitled: “A Study On Forms and Meaning of Kaus Nono Ma Saeb Nono Ritual in Timor Community”. The problems of this study are: (1) what are the forms of the linguistics expressions used in kaus nono ma saeb nono ritual of Timorese community in Oeleon village, South Central Timor regency? (2) what are the cultural meanings of forms of kaus nono ma saeb nono ritual of Timorese Community in Oeleon village, South Central Timor regency.The aims of this study are: (1) To identify the forms of kaus nono ma saeb nono ritual of Timorese Community in Oeleon village, South Central Timor regency. (2) to describe the meanings of forms kaus nono ma saeb nono ritual of Timorese Community in Oeleon village, South central Timor regency. The method used was descriptive qualitative method. The data regource are four informants who know about the ritual. The data were collected by using some techniques, such as: observation, interview, note taking, recording. The data were analyzed by using some techniques like: transcribing, identifying, and decribing. The result shows that there are 30 forms of senteces and 9 forms of symbols found in kaus nono ma saeb nono ritual. There are some types of meanings found in forms of kaus nono ma saeb nono ritual namely: (a.) cultural meaning Example Bi uis neon in manekan he minaoba ume nanan ma uis neon fani nakaf neo tauf nua(In God the bride and groom can walk the path of the household and God is the head of the household).This form is classified as a cultural meaning because it reflects cultural values or religious beliefs that assign a role in the marriage relationship. Therefore, this cultural meaning held by the people of Timor, the symbol of the lord is considered the head of the household, and views that a harmonious household can be lived by the bride and groom with the guidance of religious values. (b.) social meaning.Example: Nook nek leko ho moin mok au talan tia au monit namsop(May you live with me until the end of my days)This form is classified as social meaning because the word moin mok au talan tia au monit namsop (live with me until the end of my life) expresses the hope and desire to live together with someone until the end of life. Therefore, this social meaning is a language that conveys about habits or characters in society or the environment. (c.) connotative meaning.Example: Kaisa au futko eki ho nono mautnai nono ho kael kun es an sae maan futkun fet nai mnuke (By not binding our clan name anymore, let your clan name be attached to the princess) this form contains connotative because this meanings binds the clan name so that it carries connocative meanings related to symbolism, identity and changes in relationships or status. (d.) affective mening.Example: Neo maut natuin na kun lekat pahpinan ma lekat Uis Neno fetnai mnuke an poi ma nao neo usif atoni ma pahpinan nako usif atoni (If it is time for the ancestors and God to hear that the princess is parting ways with her family clan and ancestors and going to unite with the ancestors of her husband, then it is time for the ancestors and God to hear that the princess is parting ways with her family and ancestors). This form indicates affection meaning because it describes a feeling of thankfulness and respect to the ancestors. Based on the definition of affective meaning that is concerned with the expression of feelings and attitudes of the speaker or writers including his attitude to something he is talking or writing about
