Faktor-Faktor yang Berhubungan dengan Kejadian BBLR di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Manutapen Kecamatan Alak Kota Kupang (Studi Kasus BBLR Tahun 2015-2017)

Low birth weight is a major cause of morbidity and disability, causing high infant mortality rates. Data from the health profile of Kupang City (2015-2017), shows that the highest incidence of infants with LBW is in Manutapen Health Center of all Health Center in Kupang City. In 2015 there were 35 cases of 281 deliveries (12,5%), in 2016 there were 25 cases out of 286 deliveries (8,74%), in 2017 there were 20 cases out of 283 deliveries (8,2%). LBW is influenced by several factors, namely maternal factors, fetal factors and environmental factors. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with the incidence of LBW in Manutapen Health Center working area in 2015-2017. This research is an analytical survey research, with a case control study design. This research was conducted at the Manutapen Health Center with a total sample of 44 people and a control sample of 44 people. The results showed that the independent variables associated with LBW incidence were maternal age (p=0,00), maternal nutritional status (p=0,054), history of maternal disease (p=0,000), and utilization of ANC services (p=0,002). Meanwhile, variables not related to the incidence of LBW were maternal parity (p=0,661), birth spacing (p=0,503), mother’s education level (p=0,431), and maternal occupation (p=0,502). It is hoped that the Public Health Center can provide direction and be more intensive in monitoring the factors related to the incidence of LBW, especially maternal age during pregnancy, maternal nutritional status during pregnancy, maternal parity and also the use of ANC services by mothers so that the incidence of LBW in Public Health Center can be reduced.
