Improving Listening Skills Of The Eighth Grade Students Of SMPN Ile Boleng In The Academic Year 2023/2024 By Using Cartooon Movie “Kids English Learning Show”

The purpose of this research was to find out does the cartoon movie can improve the listening skills, to identify the significant effects of using cartoon movie that can improve the listening skills and also to identify what are the problems that hinder students’ difficulties in developing their listening skills. The method used in this research is descriptive research. This descriptive research through : test and observation. In this research there are two stages carried out. The first stage is the pre-test, it is purpose to find out the students listening skills before using cartoon movie. The second stage is post-test, it is purpose to increase students’ listening skills in working on question. Research instrument for this research is multiple choice test, it consists 25 numbers question. In the technique of analyzing data the writer used qualitative data. Analyzing the data shows to find out students’ abilities in doing the test between the pre-test and post-test. To find out the improvement in students’ listening skills can be seen from the results of the pre-test and post-test. The average students’ pre-test score was 32.00. In the pre-test there were only two students who passed out from 23 students. While the average post-test score was 73,69. Based on the data, it shows that there is an increase in students’ listening improvement from the post-test because students are more active and participate in the learning process, it can be seen from the increased scores of students in the teaching and learning process with the help of media cartoon movie. By using cartoon movie students more feel active in class, so they don’t feel bored during the teaching and learning process. The writer suggestion that cartoon movie can be used by English teachers to attract students’ attention during the teaching and learning process.
