An Analysis Of Intonation Patternsused By TVRI Kupang Newsreaders

This thesis entitled;An Analysis of Intonation Patterns Used by TVRI Kupang Newsreaders. This thesis was conducted to answer these problems: (1) What are types of intonation patterns used by TVRI KupangNewareaders? (2) What is the types of intonation patterns mostly used by TVRI Kupang Newsreaders? Thi study aims study : (1) To identify the intonation patterns used by newsreaders. (2) To identify the types of intonation patterns that is mostly used by TVRI Kupang Newsreaders. The method used was qualitative descriptive method by applying an experimental phonetic approach. The research was conducted in TVRI Kupang on W.J. LalamentikOebufu Street, Oebobo District, Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara Province, on 13th December 2023. The data was taken from the video that has been uploaded in TVRI Kupang YouTube channel under the title NTT HARI INII 27 APRIL 2022. The techniques of the data collection were downloading the video, cutting the video and coding. The was analyzed by using Praat Application to identify and describe the intonation patterns used by TVRI Kupang Newsreaders. The result shows thatthere are three types of intonation that occur when the newsreaders read the news, they are rising intonation pattern, falling intonation pattern and rising-falling intonation pattern. The type of intonation patterns mostly used by TVRI Kupangnewsreaders when the newsreaders read the news are rising intonation pattern, falling intonation pattern and rising-falling intonation pattern.
