The Use Of Songs To Improve Students’ Vocabulary Mastery At SMP Negeri 5 Lobalain
XMLThis study is entitled “The Use of Songs to Improve Students’ Vocabulary Mastery at SMP Negeri 5 Lobalain”. It was conducted to answer the questions 1) How effective is song in improving the vocabulary of seventh graders and (2) Do songs improve the vocabulary of seventh grader. The aim of this study was to know if songs could improve students’ vocabulary mastery at seventh graders. The method used in this study was Classroom Action Research. The subject of this research was the students of SMP negeri 5 Lobalain grade seventh. The data were obtained by means of observation and test. This study was concluded by cycle 1 and cycle 2 of which containing planning, action, observation and reflection. The result show that, in the pre-test the average score was 28, the cycle 1, the average score was 57,5 and the cycle 2, the average score was 77. Based on the result, the student’s vocabulary was improved and the students have achieved the minimum standard score (65). So, it could be concluded that English song method could improve the students’ vocabulary mastery.
