An analysis of plot structures and moral value of the novel entitled 'A+' BY Ananda Putri

This thesis is entitled: “An Analysis of Plot Structures and Moral Value of The Novel Entitled ‘A+’ by Ananda Putri”. The aims of the study are: (1) to describe the plot structures used in the novel ‘A+’ by Ananda Putri. (2) to identify and describe the moral values the author wants to convey in the novel ‘A+’ by Ananda Putri. The method used is the qualitative descriptive method. The writer used a bestseller novel entitled ‘A+’ by Ananda Putri as the object of the study. Loveable and Romancious published it in May 2022 and contains 396 pages. The writer analyzed the data by identifying and describing the plot structures and moral value of the novel ‘A+’ by Ananda Putri. The results showed that there are five stages of plot structures from the novel ‘A+’, namely exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and denouement. At the exposition stage, the author introduced Kai as a transfer student and the four other genius students. The author also introduced their family background. In the rising action stage, problems began to arise when Kai got first place in Parallel Try Out Mandiri 3. This affected the other four genius students. Various problems in their family arise too. The situation was getting out of control. The climax stage occured when Jo had surgery and Mrs. Nadia could not be contacted. The situation in the story got increasingly heated until it peaked when the five genius students had to face Mrs. Nadia in a tense situation. In the falling action stage, Mrs. Nadia was arrested, and then things improved and there were no more problems. Finally, in the denouement stage, Re would continue his study in Singapore and Jo would undergo treatment there. All problems were over and they would enter a new world. The forms of moral values found in the novel are (1) the manifestation of moral values between human and God, namely praying, which every student is obliged to pray when working on Try Out questions; (2) the manifestation of moral values between human and his life, namely (a) responsibility, where the five genius students are responsible for their lives, (b) never give up, where the five genius students are always optimistic even though they failed in their first mission, (c) regret, where these five genius students have a lot of regrets because of their respective egos; (3) the manifestation of moral values between human and others in social life which consists of: (a) caring for others, where they care for each other when their bonds of friendship become stronger, (b) saying gratitude, where they are grateful for knowing each other (being friends), (c) respecting others, where they always care about each other because they are friends, and (d) being honest, where they are also honest with each other about their respective family backgrounds and what they have experienced and changed their personalities to be better.
