In teaching and learning English, especially in teaching recount text writing, an English teacher applied Student Team Games Tournament (STGT) techniques to improve students' skills. The research was conducted at Reformasi Plus Private Senior High School. The research addressed three research problems; first, how is the STGT implemented to improve the Recount Text writing skills of the tenth-grade students of Noelbaki Reformasi plus private senior high school in the academic year 2023/2024? Second, what are the recount text writing weaknesses of the tenth-grade students of Noelbaki Reformasi plus private senior high school after being taught using STGT? Third, what are recount text writing strengths award the tenth-grade students of Noelbaki Reformasi plus private senior high school after being taught using STGT? The aims of the research were, (1) to know how the STGT is implemented to improve the Recount Text writing skills of the tenth-grade students of Noelbaki Reformasi plus private senior high school in the academic year 2023/2024. (2) to identify the recount text writing weaknesses of the tenth-grade students of Noelbaki Reformasi plus private senior high school after being taught using STGT. (3) to know recount text writing strengths of the tenth-grade students of Noelbaki Reformasi plus private senior high school after being taught using STGT. The research method used was a qualitative descriptive method. The subjects of this research were 15 students on tenth-grade students of Noelbaki Revormasi Plus Private Senior High School. The data were collected by using observation and test. The research followed the three techniques of data analysis: analyzing, calculating, discussion and concluding. The result showed that recount text is easy to understand because it only has three generic structures, namely orientation, event, and re-orientation. In this assessment aspect, students can improve their recount text writing skills. Even though some students got low scores, all students in the class participated well in the test. The implementation of the team game tournament for teaching writing recount text went well. Students were also more enthusiastic about joining with their classmates using the STGT technique and students responded positively to the use of the STGT technique.
