Using youtube as an english speaking learning media implemented by the third semester students of english department nusa cendana university

This thesis is entitled “Using YouTube as an English Speaking Learning Media Implemented by the Third Semester Students of English Department Nusa Cendana University.” This research aims to find out, first, whether students use YouTube as an English-speaking learning media; second, to find out the reasons students use YouTube as an English-speaking learning media; and third, to find out the use of YouTube by students as an English-speaking learning media. The method used was descriptive qualitative methodology, a purposive sampling technique. The method used to collect data was an interview. This research was conducted at the English Department of Nusa Cendana University in September 2024. The researcher chose third-semester students of the English Department as informants.
The result of this research show that all of the informants or subject of this research using youtube as an English speaking learning media, and there are five reasons why they using youtube as an English speaking learning media namely, interesting and fun, improves speaking skill, easy to understand, easy to access and free, and has diverse content. The way they use youtube as an English speaking learning media are Listening and practice, Watching podcast or conversation, Watching movies, learning vocabulary, Watching learning videos such as grammar, idioms and how to speak well, and Listening to English songs. So it can be concluded that youtube is useful as a learning medium to support the process of learning English speaking skill.
