This study is entitled "A Semiotic Analysis of Sese Tuye Tangi: A Traditional Ceremony in Nagekeo." The aim of this research is to uncover the symbolic meanings embedded in the Sese Tuye Tangi traditional ceremony practiced by the Nagekeo community. The writer employed a descriptive qualitative approach to analyze the data, which were collected through semi-structured interviews with key informants. The interview sessions were also recorded for documentation and further analysis. In this study, the writer applied Roland Barthes’ semiotic theory, which emphasizes two levels of meaning: denotation and connotation. The findings reveal that there are 20 symbols used in the Sese Tuye Tangi ceremony. Each symbol carries deep cultural and spiritual meanings, representing the community’s values such as solidarity, respect for ancestors, and the relationship between humans, nature, and the spiritual world. This research is expected to contribute to the preservation of local culture and enrich semiotic studies in the context of Indonesian traditions.
