Using Children’s Song-Based Tasks For Vocabulary Learning Of The Fourth Grade Students Of SD Inpres Cepi Watu Borong

This research investigates the use of children’s song-based tasks in vocabulary learning for fourth-grade students. The aims are to know the implementation of children’s song-based tasks and the students’ perception towards the use of children’s song-based tasks for vocabulary learning. Using a descriptive qualitative method, the research involved 20 fourth-grade students from SD Inpres Cepi Watu Borong. Techniques of data collection included observation and interviews. The procedure of collecting the data, the first step implemented three children’s songs then assign five tasks related to the songs. Data were transcribed from observation and interviews then analyzed in descriptive explanation. The finding showed that students completed seven out of ten statements in the observation checklist, specifically students listen and can comprehend the words in the song well, students can fill the gap, students can differentiate the use of a/some in a sentence, students can write the antonym of the words prepared, and students can complete the sentence by looking at the picture. However, there are three statements that students struggled with, specifically students cannot read the words they have studied in the song, students cannot pronounce the words in the song well, and students cannot match the line from the song. The result of the interviews section showed students perception towards the use of children’s song-based tasks in vocabulary learning to understand lyrics, read carefully and listened attentively. Challenges included difficulty in writing, pronouncing words, and memorizing lyrics, and learning through songs made them feel happy.
