This thesis is entitled “A Study on Affixes in Hawu Dimu dialect of Hawu Language in Sabu Raijua regency”. There were two questions to be answered in this research, namely: what are the types of the affixes found in Hawu Language; and what are the functions and meanings of the affixes found in Hawu Language? The aims of this research are to find out the affixes in Hawu Language with their types, meaning and function. The method used in this thesis was descriptive qualitative to describe the types, meaning and function of affixes in Hawu Language. In this research, the writer takes three informants as the data resources. The techniques of data collection used in this research were observation, recording, eliciting, and note taking. The techniques of data analysis used were transcribing and glossing the data, identifying and classifying the affixes based on the types, describing the functions and meanings of the affixes found. As a result, the writer found that the affixes in Hawu Language are limited only to prefix. There are five prefixes namely {pe-}, {he-}, {pena-}, {ke-} and {ta-}. The prefixes are classified into derivational prefixes and inflectional prefixes. Derivational {pe-} prefix derives verb from adjective, derivational {he-} prefix derives numeral from noun and verb, and derivational {pena-} prefix derives verb from adjective. Inflectional {pe-} prefix modifies reciprocal action, inflectional {he-} prefix modifies progressive action, inflectional {ke-} prefix modifies ordinal number, and inflectional {ta-} prefix modifies intention action. There are several meanings produced by the prefixes, such as 1) an action on something, 2) state numeral “one” and “being together”, 3) an action to shorten or minimize something, 4) a level or sequence, 5) a progressive and reciprocal action or condition, 6) an intention or something intent to be done.
