This study aims to address the problem of low vocabulary mastery of eighth grade students of SMP Kristen Inggureo in Tualene Village, TTU Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. Students face significant difficulties in comprehending English texts due to limited vocabulary and a lack of interest in reading. This challenge is exacerbated by their low learning motivation and reluctance to engage with unfamiliar words. To address this issue, the researcher uses extensive reading as a technique to improve students' vocabulary. Therefore, the researcher writes this study with the title "Improving the Vocabulary of Eighth Grade Students of SMP Kristen Inggureo in Tualene, TTU Regency, East Nusa Tenggara by using extensive reading technique." The problem of this research is: How to Improve Vocabulary of the Eighth Grade Students of SMP Kristen Inggureo in Tualene village, TTU Regency, East Nusa Tenggara by using extensive reading technique? Extensive reading allows students to encounter words repeatedly in context, which facilitates vocabulary acquisition. This study used a pre-experimental design with one pretest posttest group, involving 14 students from class VIII A. The treatment included extensive reading activities, where students selected reading materials based on
their interests and reading levels, followed by group discussions and presentations. Data were collected through vocabulary tests given before and after the treatment. The results showed a significant increase in students' vocabulary, with the mean
score increasing from 45.71 in the pretest to 78.57 in the posttest, indicating an increase of 71.87%.
