This study aims to know whether it is to use short stories in teaching reading comprehension to seventh grade students of SMP N Tli’u south central Timor regency. The method of this research was Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subjects of this research were the seventh grade students of Smp Negeri Tli’u south central timor regency. The instruments of this research were pre- test and Post-test. The result of the research found two strategies that cycle one (Indicator of success in process, students Participation, Indicator of Success in result) cycle two (Indicator of success in process). The result shows that the cycle one and cycle two were effective in teaching reading comprehension since the use of this strategy enabled the students to answer the questions of the text.
