Antibacterial Activity Of Acalypha Indica Linn Flower Extract Derived From Timor Against Ehec 0157: H7 Growth

XML

The objectives of the study were to determine the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) andthe Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC). In vitro bioassay method using the bacteriaEnterohaemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) 0157: H7 from the Hosital Dr. Sutomo of Surabaya through Brothmicrodilution testing technique and continued by inoculation on the agar media. The results showed that the flower extract of Acalyha indica Linn showed Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) at aconcentration of 200 mg/mL with a viable count of 366 CFU/500 L. The higher the concentration of the extract, the decreasing the number of the test bacterial cells. At concentrations of 1000 mg/mL, the numberof cells decreased to 201 CFU/500 L. While Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC) has not beenfound. The flower extract of Acalyha indica Linn showed Minimum Inhibition Concentration (MIC) at concentration 200 mg/mL with a viable count of 366 CFU/500 L.
