The aims of this study to find out the features of negative markers in Kiwangone dialect of Lamaholot language and know the implication of negative markers in Kiwangone dialect of Lamaholot language in learning English. The type of method used in this study was a qualitative method. The data were analyzed based on the five types of negation by Mosel and Spriggs (1999). The result of data analysis shows that there are four types of negative markers in Kiwangone dialect of Lamaholot language. They are : 1) expression no is “take” as a common negation. 2) clause-final negation are “take” and “hala”. The word “take” is used for showing negative existential and “hala” is used for showing negation of verbal and non – verbal constituent. There are some words that can be used to show negation in clause-final negation. They are “wanga”, and “amu”. These words have semantic meaning and only use in certain sentences. 3) negative imperative is “ake”. 4) double negation are “ake” and “hala” to show a must. In terms of their distribution in Kiwangone sentence, “take” can sit independently or between a subject and a predicate or after the adverb . Ake’s position is in the clause-initial negator. The word “amu” can lie between a subject and a predicate or in clause-final negator. While the rest of the other negation words are in clause-final negator. Those forms of negation in the Kiwangone dialect can influence the students from Lamaholot background when they learn English. The teacher explained some likely errors that were made by the students dealing with negation in learning English. They were auxiliary verbs, yes/no question, to be, and possessive pronouns.
