Online Teaching And Learning Media Employed By Junior High School English Teachers In Kupang City During Covid-19 Pandemic

This thesis is entitled “ONLINE TEACHING AND LEARNING MEDIA EMPLOYED BY JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL ENGLISH TEACHERS IN KUPANG CITY DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC”. The aims of this research were to know What media are used in online teaching and learning conducted by junior high schools English teachers in Kupang city during Covid-19 pandemic, what problems are faced by teachers and students in online teaching and learning conducted by junior high schools English teachers in Kupang city during COVID-19 pandemic, how effective is the online teaching and learning process conducted by junior high schools English teachers in Kupang city during COVID-19 pandemic. This research used descriptive qualitative research. The subject of this research were 12 Junior High School English teachers in Kupang city. This research was conducted in three weeks in 12 Junior High Schools. In collecting data, the writer used questionnaire in google form. From the data collection, the writer found out that the online media used by English teachers in 12 Junior High Schools Kupang are Whatsapp, Google classroom, Zoom, and You tube. The problems the teachers faced in using online media during pandemic are unstable internet connection, internet quota availability, limitation of information technology, and difficulty in mastering the application. The effectiveness of online teaching and learning process, the writer added three statements to strengthen the second statement problems of this research findings. The first strength is the effectiveness in used online media in online teaching and learning process, the teachers answered was very effective (8,3%), most of them answered quite effective (50% ), and answered effective (25%), and answered ineffective (16,7%). The second are concentration on students learning process and the impact in students learning outcomes in online teaching and learning process during pandemic was good enough (45,5%), not good (27,3 %), good (18,2 %). The third is the honesty on student’s learning process, based on this research findings the impact student’s honesty in students learning outcomes that is quite honest (25 %), not honest (41,7%) and very not honest (16,7%).
