An Analysis Of Grammatical Errors In Translating Indonesian Narrative Text Into English By The Eight Grade Students Of SMPN 03 South Golewa

This study is entitled “An analysis of grammatical errors in translating
Indonesian narrative text into English by the eight grade students of SMPN 03
South Golewa. The aim of this study was to know the errors in translating
Indonesian narrative text into English by the eight grade students of SMPN 03
South Golewa. The method used in this study was descriptive. The population
of this study was class VIII of SMPN 03 South Golewa. The writer took 20
students from one class as the sample. The data compiled were analyzed
descriptively in order to find out the types of errors. It was found that the
students made the following errors; omission errors, misinformation errors,
addition errors and misordering errors. The percentage of each type of error was;
omission 16.55%, misinformation 55.17%, addition 23.44% and misordering
4.83%. The most frequent errors made by the students was misinformation.
