This thesis is entitled Difficulties in Answering Reading Comprehension Questions of TOEFL Practice Test Model Three of Barron’s How to Prepare for The TOEFL Experienced by Seventh Semester Students of English Study Program of Nusa Cendana University in The Academic Year 2019/2020.The aims of this research were to find out and describe level of difficulty of each specific required skill for TOEFL reading test experienced by seventh semester students, to state the most difficult specific required skill for TOEFL reading test experienced by seventh semester students, to state the least difficult specific required skill for TOEFL reading test experienced by seventh semester students, and to describe causes of the difficulties in answering TOEFL reading questions faced by seventh semester students of English Study Program of Nusa Cendana University, in the academic year 2019/2020. This research used a descriptive method, both quantitative and qualitative, to investigate difficulties in reading comprehension of TOEFL prediction. The subjects of this research were 129 seventh semester students of English Study Program of Nusa Cendana University participated in the training but only 70 of them joined TOEFL prediction post-tests. This research was conducted in fourteen months in Agape Indah English Training Center Penfui Kupang from 20th August 2020 until 20th on September 2021. In collecting the data, the writer used two techniques; they were documentary study and online interview. From the data collection, the writer found that, the seventh semester students of English Study Program of Nusa Cendana University in the academic year 2019/2020 experienced difficulties in all the twelve specific skills required for answering reading comprehension questions of TOEFL practice test model three of Barron’s How to Prepare for the TOEFL but with different level of difficulty. The most difficult skill to accomplish by the seventh semester students is skimming to identify where in a passage specific information is given or can be inserted and the least difficult skill is skimming to determine the writer purpose. For the four major skills in reading comprehension of TOEFL, the most difficult skill is making inferences or understanding indirectly stated details (implied details). It is then followed by scanning for directly stated details and exceptions then skimming for previewing and reviewing a text and the least level of difficult major skill is on scanning word meanings from the context of a passage. There are five causes experienced by seventh semester students are (1) inadequate knowledge of specific reading skills needed for doing TOEFL, hence lacking practice of the skills; (2) unfamiliar fields of TOEFL reading passages or paragraphs, (3) the length of TOEFL reading passages or paragraphs; (4) inadequate knowledge of English vocabulary, including English word formation; and (5) the shortage of time allocated for the TOEFL reading comprehension test.
