A Descriptive Study On Lexical Cohesion In Su’i Uwi Ritual Speech Of Reba Tradition At Mangulewa Village In Bajawa Language
XMLThe aimed of this research is to find out the types of lexical cohesion in Su’i Uwi ritual speech.This research used the theory from Halliday and Hasan theories. The writer used descriptive qualitative method in which the data were taken. The techniques of data collecting are finding out the Su’i Uwi ritual speech, reading and translating Su’i Uwi ritual speech into English, finding out the types of lexical cohesion and identifying all the lexical cohesion based on their types. The data analysis techniques used underlying the sentences that have lexical cohesion and analyzing the data from the ritual speech . the writer found some of lexical cohesion in ritual speech of Su’i Uwi. The result shows that there are 28 sentences that have lexical cohesion in Su’i Uwi ritual speech. From 28 sentences there are 10 items of repetition, 3 items of meronymy, 1 item of synonymy, and 1 item of antonymy. There are no hyponymy, and collocation in the Su’i Uwi ritual speech. From this research,it can be indicated that the most frequent type found in this Su’i Uwi ritual speech is repetition.. It can be concluded that lexical cohesion has very important roles to make a good text and help the readers to understanding thespeech..
