This thesis is entired : The Use of Show and Tell (S&T) Method in
Teaching and Learning Vocabulary at Second Year Students of SMPN Satu Atap
Moncok, East Manggarai in the School Year 2019/2020. Show and Tell (S&T)
method is a new method that is the practice of showing something to an audience
and describe it to them. This method can improve their vocabulary mastery ,
because it is very easy and simple. Therefore, the writer is interested to connduct
this research about the use of Show and Tell (S&T) method. The problem of this
study is: to what extent canShow and Tell (S&T)method improve the vocabulary of
second year students of SMPN Satu Atap Moncok, East Manggarai in the school
year2019/2020. The aimof this study is to know wheather the Show and Tell
(S&T)method can improve the vocabulary of second year students of SMPN Satu
Atap Moncok,East Manggarai in the school Year 2019/2020. The type of method
used was Experimental method. The population of this study was second year
students of SMPN Satu Atap Moncok, East Manggarai which consists seven class.
In which each class consists of 19 students and the total number was 133 students.
There were 38 students selected as the sample, or 25% of 133 students as the
population. In this study, the writer used pre test and post test. The students were
given the multiple choice test that consists of 25 items in both pre test and post test.
The result shows that the use of Show and Tell method can improve the vocabulary
of second year students of SMPN Satu Atap Moncok, East Mangggarai because
baced on the percentage of post test in experimental group that is 9,02% and it was
categorized as god level. Besides, the percentage of post test in controll group
5,63% than t-test 14,2% was higher than t-table 2.042 at the level of significance
0.05 with degree of freedom that is (dm) = 36. It means that using Show and Tell
method was effective towards to improve vocabulary at second year students of
SMPN Satu Atap Moncok,East Manggarai in the school year 2019/2020.
