A Morphological Study Of Compound Words Found In Kupang Malay Language

The research is aimed to find out the kinds, meanings and uniqueness of the Kupang Malay language. In this research, the writer used descriptive qualitative method where the researcher tries to find out the kinds, meanings and uniqueness of the Kupang Malay language without using statistical calculation. In this research, the writer uses all of Kupang Malay compound words as the data. In analyzing data, the writer found that there are 30 Kupang Malay compound words and they are divided into three parts, the first one is Kupang Malay compound noun words (3 examples), the second one is Kupang Malay compound adjective words (19 examples) and the last one is the Kupang Malay compound verb (8 examples). The meanings of the Kupang Malay compound words are analyzed by using the lexical meaning of the Kupang Malay compound wods and the unique of the Kupang Malay compound words is determined by realizing the structure of the Kupang Malay compound words and its result which creates the new meaning.
