An Analysis Of Grammatical Units (Words, Phrases, Sentences) Of Procedural Text On How To Make Creamy Duck Curry In Heinz Von Holzen’s Feast Of Flavors From The Indonesian Kitchen

The research problem of this research is (1) what are the types of words, phrases, and sentences in the procedural text of how to make Creamy Duck Curry from the book Feast of Flavors from the Indonesian Kitchen by Heinz von Holzen. This research aims to (1) know the types of words used in procedural text how to make Creamy Duck Curry of Feast of Flavors from the Indonesian Kitchen by Heinz von Holzen. (2) To find out and explain types of phrases used in the procedural text how to make Creamy Duck Curry. (3) To identify and describe types of sentence used in procedural text mentioned before. The method that is used in this research is qualitative and quantitative method (mix) method. The data used in this research was a cooking recipe called how to make Creamy Duck Curry contain nine steps. In this research, the writer used documentation and note taking as instruments. The writer analyzed the data by describing, counting and determine the number of word, phrase, and sentence types in the text. The result shows that there were four types of words, two types of phrases, and three types of sentences. There are a total of 32 verbs and mostly they are action verbs. All the types of phrase were used in the procedural text but noun phrases and adjective phrases were mostly used in the text. The texts also used clauses. They are the most common type functioning as independent clause and dependent clause. Although the texts mostly used imperative sentences, we can clearly see that types of words such as verbs, nouns, adjectives, adverbs; types of phrases and clauses were included in the text.
