An Analysis Of Word-Formation Of Manggarai Language: The Case Of Central Manggarai Dialect

The problems of this study are: (1) What are kinds of word formation in Manggarai language, (2) How are the words formed based on their word-formation processes,(3) How are the words used in communication. This study aims: (1) To know what kinds of word formation in Manggarai language, (2) To describe how words in Manggarai language are formed, (3) To describe how the words in Manggarai language are used in communication. In this research, the writer used the descriptive qualitative method with data collection methods used are observation, interview, recording, and documentary study where the writer tries to find out the kinds of word formation in Manggarai language. The data resources were native speakers from Ngeri village and taken from Manggarai textbook. In analyzing the data, the writer found eight word-formation processes that are used in Manggarai language. They are blending, borrowing, clipping, compounding, conversion, cliticization, reduplication, and derivational.
