A Study On Paragraph Structures Of Ielts Written Texts By The Seventh Semester Students Of The English Education Department Of Nusa Cendana University

This thesis is entitled “A STUDY ON PARAGRAPH STRUCTURES OF IELTS WRITTEN TEXTS BY THE SEVENTH SEMESTER STUDENTS OF THE ENGLISH EDUCATION DEPARTMENT OF NUSA CENDANA UNIVERSITY”. The aims of this research were to identify and describe how the Seventh Semester Students of the English Education Department of Nusa Cendana University develop the paragraph of their IELTS written texts and to describe cohesive devices used by the Seventh Semester Students of the English Education Department of Nusa Cendana University in the paragraph of their IELTS written texts. The subjects of this research were Seventh Semester Students of the English Education Department of Nusa Cendana University. In collecting the data, the writer used the descriptive qualitative method to identify and describe the Seventh Semester Students’ to develop the paragraph structure of their IELTS written texts. From the data collection, the writer found that in general, the paragraph structure of IELTS written texts by the Seventh Semester Students in the English Education Department of Nusa Cendana University is good to some extent but there are still weaknesses faced by the students. The result of data analysis also shows that most Seventh Semester Students used grammatical and lexical cohesive devices in their paragraphs of IELTS written texts.
