The objective of the study is to find out the use of mind mapping In writing of Procedure text. This study used a descriptive qualitative method as the design that used online questionnaire and online test (pretest and posttest). The sample of this research was 16 students of the ninth grade students of SMP Negeri 14 Kupang of the 2019/2020 academic year. The instrument of this study were a written test, to score the students’ Procedure text on pretest and posttest the writer used rubric of scoring by Burhan Nurgiyanto and writer also used online Questionnaire to know students’ opinion, problem, difficulties, understanding, and responses to the use of mind mapping method. The result of this study shows that there was a positive effect of the result of students’ writing Procedure text after using the mind mapping technique. From the analysis of pre-test and post-test, It can be seen the average of the students’ score in pre-test before used mind mapping technique was 63.9. After conducting mind mapping technique, the average of the students’ writing post-test result were 81.8. There was an improvement on the students’ ability in writing procedure text by comparing the result between pre-test and the writing test in post-test. The percentage of students’ improvement from pre-test to post-test was 28%. The writer also saw students’ interest in using mind mapping technique in writing procedure text was high. So, the use of mind mapping was effective to help students’ in writing a procedure text.
