An Analysis Of Idiomatic Expression In Loli Dialect West Sumba

This thesis is about “An Analysis of Idiomatic Expression in Loli Dialect West Sumba”. The aims of this study are to describe the forms of idiomatic Expression in Loli dialect, to describe the meanings of idiomatic expression in Loli dialect, and to describe the functions of the idiomatic expression in Loli dialect. The research design of this study was descriptive qualitative method. In this study, the writer selected five people as the informants who live in Diratana Village. The writer used some techniques like observation, interview, documention, note-taking and recording to collect the data with the procedure transcribing, analysing, classifying, and describing. The writer analyzed the data of result of review to answer the problems. From the analysis the writer found there are 42 idiomatic expressions and it consists of 32 full idiom forms, 10 partial idiom forms, and 6 based on choice word idiom form and have six forms of idiom based on choice word. All of the 42 idiomatic expressions have their meanings.
