This writing is entitled: An analysis of forms, meanings, and functions of dowry(belis) delivery as a traditional ceremony in Oebatu village, Rote ndao regency. The problems of this study are: (1) What are the forms of belis in Oebatu village, (2) What are the functions of belis in Oebatu Village, (3) What are the meanings of belis in Oebatu village. This study aims: (1) To know the forms of belis in Oebatu village, (2) To know the functions of belis in Oebatu Village, (3) To know the meanings of belis in Oebatu Village. The method used in this study was the qualitative descriptive method. It was used to find out the forms of dowry in Oebatu Village, to describe the meanings of dowry in Oebatu Village, and to describe the function of dowry in Oebatu Village. The research was conducted in Oebatu Village, Rote Ndao Regency. The data were collected from four key informants. The techniques of data collection, observation, interview, and note-taking. The data obtained in this research were identified and described. the result shows that: 1. Forms of dowry found were: fe mbotik (Delivery of the proposal tray), fe dala manggaledok (Light reception), fe isi mbotik (Proposal tray acceptance), basa mbotik kar (All the proposal trays). 2. Meanings of dowry are: (1) Religious Meaning, example: Fe Lamatuak lopolinu uma lok muni faik ia losa donan neu (ask God to be with the household from now and forever). (2) social Meaning, for example: takabua to ka’a fadi ma esa sue lai esa fo mulai muni fe belis losa feta dotek la’ok no malole (cooperate with the family so that the delivery of belis until the wedding goes smoothly). (3) Didactic Meaning, example: belis ia fe nanorik soak neu kana muriana kar fo sangga hambu doik deifo matane ina kar (This belis teaches a young man who wants to get married must first prepare a lot of money before proposing to a woman). 3. Function of dowry are: (1) belis ia naena dalak esa fo mita na basa hatori bubuluk umalok ia manggaledok (Belis function is to esure to everyone that domestic relations are legal). (2) Belis ia fe neulauk esa neu ka’a fadi inak no touk fo esa sue lai esa (Belis is characterized as good relations and mutual respect between male and female families). (3) Belis ia dadi neu dala malole esa fo sao inak no sao touk dode diku nai lamatuak uman dale (Belis is a sign of respect so that prospective men and prospective women can hold a wedding ceremony in the church). 4. Traditional ceremony. In this marriage ceremony, there is an exchange system that has binding power and mobility from the people in Oebatu Village.
