Homonyms And Homographs In Ruteng Dialect Of Manggarai Language

This study is about homonyms and homographs in Ruteng dialect of Manggarai language. The study focuses in homonyms and homographs word in Ruteng dialect and the meaning of those words. The aims of this study are to know about the homonyms and homographs word in Ruteng dialect and the meaning of those words. This study employed a descriptive-qualitative approach. This research was carried out in the Manggarai community with Ruteng dialect. The research took place for two weeks, starting from 10th to 24th November 2021. The subjects of this research were the speaker of Ruteng dialect of Manggarai language. The researcher selected six informants from Ruteng and Cancar with the following details; six community leaders (consist of English and Indonesian teacher and a young man). In this study the researcher used recording device as research instrument. The data collection techniques that used in this study are reflection method, observation, and interview. It is known that homonyms are two or more words that have the same spelling and pronunciation but different meanings. While homographs are two or more words that have the same spelling but different in pronunciation and meaning. Based on the results of the research and discussion that have been presented in chapter VI, it can be inferred that the Ruteng dialect of Manggarai language contains a large number of homonyms and homographs. In the Ruteng dialect of the Manggarai language, there are 56 words that comprise homonymous terms and 37 words are homographs but there may be many more homonymous and homographs words that have not been mentioned in this research report.
