Coordinating Conjunctions of Wersing; A Language of Alor Island

The problems of this research formulated as what coordinating conjunctions are there in Wersing language and how are they grammatically used in the language clauses or sentences. The objectives of this study are to find what coordinating conjunctions are there in Wersing language and to find out how they are grammatically used. The process of data collection involved recording, taking notes, and elicitation. In the recording technique, the researcher recorded the native speaker’s storytelling using recording tools. The writer also collected the data from written data in the Wersing bible. The writer also uses the elicitation technique to provoke informants to utter any utterances to contain conjunctions in Wersing language. There are thirteen coordinating conjunction in Wersing language, they are; pang sa, pang si, pang na, pang lai a, pang lai sa, pang sasina, pam po, lai a, lai sa, lai te, medi and anta. The writers also categorize it based on the semantic property and added masi as a coordinating conjunction. The writer hopes this written can be the motivation for the speech community of Wersing language speakers to maintain the language as cultural asset. It also can be a source of information for those who want to conduct further investigation of the language, especially about coordinating conjunction.
